family first

I used to have a small family. Now I have an even smaller family. Life is short, and we should spend it with the ones we love the most.
But how can we do that, if we have to spend 40-60 hours a week working, away from them, in the name of making money to provide for their needs. Money versus time, always seems to be in conflict with one another in my life. I would spend all the time in the world with my family, but then I wouldn't have money to survive. Or I could spend all my time making money, but then would not be able to spend quality time with my family. We work so hard doing jobs we don't enjoy, and leaving little time for the things we want to do or the people we love.
I am tired of the rat race. I am tired of playing by the rules that society has laid down, saying you should work an 8 to 5 job. So, I'm going to defy the rules, and I'm going to defy society. And hopefully if you're reading this, you're going to watch me do this, and make this change, thereby proving to you that anyone can do it.
Tim Ferris author of The 4 hour work week, defines "the new rich as those who abandon the deferred life plan and create luxury lifestyles in the present using the currency of the new rich: time and mobility. This is an art and a science."
My goal is to be considered being part of the new rich, and creating businesses in such a manner that they only take me 4 hours a week to run. I'm going to embrace this fully, and go for it.
Will I fail? Probably. But let's take a moment to consider the benefits against the risks. Potential benefits: Be able to spend all my time with my family, having time to pursue my passions and hobbies, living a healthier and happier lifestyle. The risks: Potentially loosing 2 years of my time and potential income if I fail. But then you also must consider opportunity cost. What would I be losing if I didn't go for it?
Next time... where to start?
